tara’s artwork is inspired by the unlikely combination of her grandmother’s vintace lace and doily collection, the beautiful colours and patters of the saris worn by the women she met in india and local and international street art. many of her paintings evolve into informal tapestry looms, first spray painted with lace as stencils, then overlaid with a weft, woven with various medium, and incorporating found objects from her past. each piece has a social and mental history and honours her grandmother’s memory.
